ATLANTA – Ga. – Oct. 3, 2007 – University Hospital made presentations Oct. 3-5 to nearly 5,000 of the world’s leading nurses at the 11th Annual Magnet Conference.
Marilyn Bowcutt and Gail Erlitz from University Hospital Patient Care Services made presentations on the hospital’s nursing successes in “Nursing Excellence and Clinical Information Technology,” and “Eliminating Surgical Site Infections.”
The event was hosted at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), the world’s leading and most widely trusted credentialing organization for nurses. University Hospital received the ANCC Magnet designation after successfully completing a rigorous evaluation into its nursing services, clinical outcomes and patient care delivery. Recognizing quality patient care and nursing excellence, the Magnet Recognition Program provides consumers with the ultimate benchmark to measure the quality of care that they can expect to receive.
University is the only Magnet hospital in Augusta. The exclusive list of Magnet facilities includes The Cleveland Clinic, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles and Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C.
“Magnet is the seal of approval for quality nursing care,” according to J. Larry Read, president/CEO of University Health Care System. “This designation helps patients find health care facilities that have demonstrated and maintain a high standard in patient care.”
