University Wants to Help Others 'Kick Butts' December 5, 2007

NOVEMBER 15, 2007

AUGUSTA, GA. – Representatives from University Health Care System Cancer Services played an instrumental role in the 2007 Great American Smokeout.

Coordinators hope that this year’s campaign, entitled “Kick Butts Across Georgia,” encouraged tobacco users to rethink the habit that is linked to a variety of cancers, according to Cheryl Wheeler, University’s Smokeout representative.

Ms. Wheeler and other representatives of University’s Cancer Services set up information booths tonight at each entrance to the Augusta Lynx hockey game and distributed more than 150 information packets while coaching people on options to assist in kicking the various tobacco habits. Lung cancer survivors were honored at the event at the James Brown Arena.
