University Volunteer Board Announces 2007 Statistics
AUGUSTA, GA. (Feb. 6, 2008) – The Volunteer Board of University Health contributed 32,289 hours of service and $145,679 to patients last year through University Hospital programs. The announcement came today at the group’s annual meeting held at Augusta Country Club.
Among the projects funded with board’s donations were a new Celebrations! Gift Shop in the Women’s Center, equipment for the Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Center, continuation of the “Born to Read” program for newborn parents, special pillows for heart surgery patients and mammograms for uninsured women.
Honored during the program were volunteers Vicki McKnight for 6,000 cumulative hours, Florence Ramsay for 5,500 hours, Kathryn Spears for 5,000 hours, Mary Oglesby for 4,000 hours and Ann Chumley for 3,500 hours.
Other volunteers recognized were: Joyce Alspaugh, Joanne Berg, Mary Humrich and Shirley Milligan, 3,000 hours; Margaret Pearson, 2,500 hours; Eldorah Baker, Kitty Grogan, Joyce Jones, Carole Nelson, Serelle Newman, Mary Sexton, Caroline Slaton and Thelma Williams, 2,000 hours; Eloise Crouch, Miriam Culbertson, Donald Gannon and Jane Holley, 1,500 hours; Colin Gordy, Leonard Gore, Norma McLain, Janet Smith, Robbie Thompson and Joyce Woods, 1,000; Wilma Allen, Ouida Harling, Christy Jones, Nancy Mathis, Chris McDowell, Verlon McDowell, Wayne Miller, Velma Scott, Mary Ann Unger and Jim Waldron, 500 hours; Bob Claussen, Suzanne Eiseman, Nettie Isaac, Shirley Smith, Patty Sommers and Anne Sutton, first 100 hours in one year.
Volunteer Board officers sworn in for 2008 were: Helen Crews, president; Alice Outlaw, president-elect; Christy Jones, vice president; Janet Smith, treasurer; Mary Logue, recording secretary and Doreen Wetherington, corresponding secretary.
