Annual Event Honors Local Cancer Survivors June 1
AUGUSTA, Ga. – May 15, 2008 – National Cancer Survivor’s Day honors an estimated 12 million cancer survivors in the United States, their caregivers, and those who advocate for them. They overcome great obstacles and persevered through difficult times. This day is to celebrate their achievements.
University Hospital honors local survivors every year with their Cancer Survival Luncheon. More than 500 people attend this annual luncheon. This year, it is scheduled for 12:30 p.m., June 1 at the Augusta Marriott Hotel, 2 10th St.. The guest speaker event will be Mack Dryden, a comedian, actor and writer whose inspirational words have been heard by thousands of people all over the country.
Mr. Dryden, who lives in Los Angeles, has appeared on numerous television shows including JAG and Saved by the Bell, and in several feature films, such as Simpatico and Million Dollar Mystery. As a sketch writer and voice actor, Mr. Dryden’s writing and voice are heard on more than 500 radio stations every week.
