University Health Care System Campuses Go Tobacco Free
Augusta, Ga. – Sept. 4, 2008 – University Health Care System has announced that all of its campuses will soon become tobacco free.
Smoking or using tobacco products anywhere on University property will be prohibited for everyone – staff, physicians, volunteers, visitors and patients, according to Rick Roche, vice president of Human Resources for University. The new policy will take effect on Thursday, Nov. 20, in conjunction with the American Cancer Society’s Great American Smokeout.
The decision to go tobacco free is an extension of our mission to help develop and maintain a healthy community,” Mr. Roche said. “The use of tobacco products runs counter to University’s commitment to providing a healthy environment for employees, patients and visitors.”
