Special Care Nursery Graduates Welcomed at ‘Baby Come Back’ Event

December 7, 2008 – (AUGUSTA, GA) – More than 200 people attended University Hospital’s special “Baby Come Back” celebration Sunday, Dec. 7, in University’s cafeteria.

The event, which began in 1983, honors those babies who start their lives in the hospital’s special nursery, which cares for premature and ill newborns.

"The Baby Come Back event is a chance for our nursing staff and physicians to see our littlest patients and watch them as they grow,” said Liz Price, director of women’s services at the W.G. Watson, M.D., Women’s Center. “The nurses and doctors in our unit give so much of themselves to these new families with their fragile new beginnings. They are always so happy to see how well the children are doing. These babies and families will always have a special place in their hearts - and this is one way we can reconnect for many years to come!"

All the children and their family members at the celebration were treated to a magic show as well as refreshments and a chance to visit Santa Claus.
