University Health Care System Announces New COO
December 18, 2008 -- Augusta, GA. -- James R. “Jim” Davis, an Ohio health care executive with more than 25 years of management experience in large acute care hospitals, has accepted the position of Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of University Health Care System.
“I am extremely pleased that Jim will be joining and enhancing our team at University,” said J. Larry Read, President/CEO of University Health Care System.
“He brings with him a tremendous record of operational excellence and customer satisfaction strength that are consistent with our mission at University. Please join me in welcoming him to Augusta and University.”
The Ohio native comes to University from St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown, a 550-bed tertiary care hospital and part of the three-hospital Humility of Mary Health Partners system.
Mr. Davis has a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Akron. He has been active with the United Way, local Chambers of Commerce, the American Cancer Society, the Boy Scout Council and multiple health care boards of trustees.

Mr. Davis said he and his wife, Nancy, also look forward to mild Georgia winters.
He will join us at University in mid-January 2009.
