University Health Care Employee Honored with the E2 Award
Augusta, Ga. – Sept. 15, 2008 – Margaret Henthorne, an echocardiology technologist, has been honored by University President and CEO J. Larry Read with the “E2 Award,” a special recognition for employees who “Exceed Expectations” and go far above and beyond the call of duty.
Ms. Henthorne, who has worked at University for nine years, was given the honor for “ministering to the needs of a patient’s family that was in the midst of a crisis,” Mr. Read explained.
After noticing a woman crying in the hospital hallway, Ms. Henthorne went to her and found that the woman was upset because her mother had been admitted with a heart attack. Later in the day, the woman learned that her son had died in a separate incident. Mr. Read said Ms. Henthorne “showed true compassion and strength in helping the woman and her family get through the difficult situation.
“She really stepped up and helped the family and the staff,” Mr. Read said. “It was a very emotional time for the family and Margaret was the glue that held it all together. Today we honor her with the highest honor an employee can receive.”
