Local physicians receive national diabetes recognition
April 29, 2009 (AUGUSTA, GA) – 13 physicians in Evans and Augusta, Ga., who practice at University Hospital have received recognition from the National Committee for Quality Assurance’s Diabetes Physician Recognition Program.
The recognition, which is valid for three years, indicates that the physicians have provided quality care to their patients with diabetes. That care includes, but is not limited to, the following:
- Eye exams
- Blood pressure tests

"For a person with diabetes, the right physician can make the difference between living with diabetes as opposed to suffering from diabetes," said R. Paul Robertson, MD, President, Medicine & Science, American Diabetes Association. "Physicians who earn recognition through the Diabetes Physician Recognition Program have an established track record of providing excellent diabetes care. The list of recognized doctors is the first place to look if you or a loved one has been diagnosed with diabetes."
