Seasoned Health Care Professional Joins Management Team
AUGUSTA, GA. (Nov. 23, 2009) Melody Thompson, a health care professional with more than 17 years of experience, has been named Vice President of Physician Services for University Health Care System.
She will be responsible for physician recruitment and contracting and management of employed physician practices.
Ms. Thompson has a bachelor’s degree in biology from Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg, Va., and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minn. She has worked at the Medical College of Georgia since 2004, most recently with the Physicians Practice Group Foundation. Prior to her work with MCG, she managed medical and surgical physician practices.
Her areas of expertise include business development for multi-site healthcare operations, physician recruitment and performance management.

Ms. Thompson is a Fellow with the American College of Healthcare Executives, a Certified Member of the American College of Medical Practice Executives and an Executive Committee Member of the Academic Practice Plan Associate Directors. She is also active in community and charitable affairs to include the Columbia County Chamber of Commerce as a Board Member and the Marshall Family YMCA as Vice Chair.
