New Information on Quality Available to Public
AUGUSTA, GA (Aug. 31, 2010) – For more than a year, University Hospital has made great strides in making sure our quality data is readily available on our consumer website.
Anyone can go online at www.universityhealth.org/compare and see at a glance how University compares to other area hospitals and the top 10 percent of hospitals in the U.S.
The data, taken from the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services Hospital Compare website, includes numbers for Heart Failure, Heart Attack, Pneumonia, Surgical Care and Patient Satisfaction.
Hospital Compare has recently been updated with additional measures and University continues to work toward transparency by building new pages on our consumer website to include these numbers.
The recent additions include:
- Outpatient data for Heart Attack, which includes time to transfer an outpatient heart patient, time for an outpatient to receive an ECG for a possible heart attack and whether an outpatient was given clot-busting drugs within 30 minutes.
- Use of Medical Imaging, which includes information such as whether an outpatient with back pain was given an MRI without treatment first, how often follow-up breast screenings are necessary and whether outpatients were given combination chest or abdominal CT scans.
- Outcome of Care Measures, which includes death and readmission rates for heart attack, heart failure and pneumonia patients.
