Brandon Wilde Named a ‘Certified Wildlife Habitat’
by the National Wildlife Federation
(EVANS, GA. Oct. 5, 2011) Brandon Wilde Continuing Care Retirement Community was recently named a Certified Wildlife Habitat by the National Wildlife Federation.
To receive this certification, locations must demonstrate planning, landscaping and sustainable gardening to provide food, water, cover and shelter for area wildlife.
Brandon Wilde residents made a sweep of the 106-acre property to identify the many species of mammals, birds and waterfowl that make the campus their home. They identified nearly 10 animal species, including deer, raccoons, foxes, beavers and rabbits; five varieties of waterfowl, including Canada Geese, Mallards and Wood Ducks; and nearly 25 bird varieties, including Red-tailed Hawks, English Sparrows, Pileated Woodpeckers and Great Horned Owls.
The facility received weatherproof signs to place around the campus noting its certification as well as a one-year membership to the National Wildlife Federation.
