University Hospital Earns Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation Re-certification
The only hospital in the CSRA to receive certification in both areas of the program
Augusta, GA — The Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehab programs at University Hospital have been recertified by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR). The certification is valid for three years.
University’s programs and staff were recognized for their commitment to improving the quality of life for their patients by enhancing standards of care, according to Sheila Kamath, program manager.
“These programs are designed to help people after a cardiovascular event such as a heart attack, open heart surgery, stent(s), chronic pulmonary disease or pulmonary illness,” Ms. Kamath said. “The purpose of recertification is to benchmark for best practice, program quality and improving patient outcomes. It also provides an objective assessment of a program’s adherence to updated clinical standards and guidelines and promotes a culture of quality patient care.”
