Sybil Surrett Named Outstanding Fundraising
Professional of the Year
Augusta, GA. – Nominated by her co-workers for her 40-year career with University Health Care System, Senior Development Officer Sybil Surrett has spent the past 15 years focused her passion toward securing fundraising support for the hospital.
Ms. Surrett was honored Nov. 6 at the Association of Fundraising Professional’s National Philanthropy Luncheon.
With her contagious spirit and authentic commitment to University, Ms. Surrett has secured University Health Care Foundation’s largest gifts including a $1 million leadership gift for the Windsor House, Brandon Wilde’s newly built state-of-the-art facility for residents with early to mid-stages of dementia, and a $500,000 gift for University’s $8 million Heart & Vascular Capital Campaign.
Successful not only with major gift fundraising but also major events, Ms. Surrett plans the majority of the Foundation’s annual events. Ms. Surrett has doubled the number of participating teams in the Jernigan Memorial Golf Tournament, making it the CSRA’s largest and most renowned charity tournament and providing much-needed financial resources for updates and upgrades to University’s Jernigan Cancer Center. Ms. Surrett also has planned the Foundation’s Art Patchin/Will Weston Celebration, making it possible for University to provide financial assistance to qualifying patients and enabling them to keep the lights on and food on the table while they heal. Ms. Surrett established Young Philanthropist, a musical event that has featured Lady Antebellum and Josh Kelley and inspired the philanthropic spirit of younger donors, and was instrumental in developing a robust annual giving program for University by developing the 1818 Society and celebrating the generosity of its donors at its annual celebration.
University Health Care Foundation was established in 1978 as a charitable organization dedicated to the development and acquisition of financial resources to ensure University Hospital’s excellence in delivery of healthcare services.
