Kelley Brothers’ Concert, Golf Tournament
to Benefit University Health Care Foundation Endowment
July 16 (Augusta, Ga.) – University Health Care Foundation is proud to be a beneficiary of the inaugural Kelley Brothers and Friends Celebrity Golf Tournament and Concert on Oct. 27.
This special event includes the tournament at Champions Retreat Golf Club in Evans and the concert at Lady Antebellum Ampitheater at Evans Town Center Park.
A portion of the proceeds from the event will benefit the John W. Kelley, M.D., Cardiovascular Endowment at University Health Care Foundation. This endowment was established in honor of Dr. Kelley, the Kelley brothers’ father, who practiced cardiology in the CSRA for 28 years. The endowment helps educate and train cardiac and vascular students, as well as nurses and technologists at University Hospital’s Heart & Vascular Institute. St. Jude Children’s Hospital also is a beneficiary of the event.
"Dr. Kelley has always been a great advocate for University Hospital,”said Laurie Ott, vice president of Human Resources and Community Services at University Health Care System and University Health Care Foundation president. “He cared for patients here at University for more than two decades, and we are very grateful for his continued support for heart care in our community through his endowment at University Health Care Foundation.”
Ms. Ott said the Oct. 27 event is a wonderful showcase for Dr. Kelley’s endowment and a meaningful illustration of the ongoing support from his sons as well. “We couldn't be more thrilled!" she said.
“On behalf of my entire family we are incredibly grateful and excited to be a part of such a good cause and what will be a really, really fun time,” said John Kelley, one of the three hosts for the events, along with his brothers Charles and Josh. “For several years my brothers and I have been trying to figure out how to connect our passion for music and golf within the community, as well as identify the proper outlet to give back and be with great friends and family.”
John and his family recently relocated back to the Augusta area, which he said made the upcoming event more meaningful to the Kelley family.
“When my family and I made the decision earlier this year to move from North Carolina back home to Augusta, and then having the opportunity to use some of my skills in the construction department at University it became very clear that this was the right time and the right thing to do,” he said. “We are very very excited.”
