Care with Dignity
Our focus is on providing the information resources cancer patients need.
For cancer patients, their families and friends, obtaining information about cancer and treatment options can ease the fear of the unknown and increase the ability to make decisions. Talking to their health care providers about the information learned is essential. University Health Care System encourages patients, family members and the public to become educated about cancer and its prevention, screening and management. The Cancer Services at University now has dedicated education rooms on inpatient surgical and oncology units to help individuals learn through a variety of ways.
What Is Available at the Resource Rooms?
In the Resource Rooms, the latest information on cancer and wellness are available through:
- Educational brochures on all cancers for patients and families
- Reference and health-related books
- Wireless Internet access
- Books about cancer for children, families and couples
- Portable TV/DVD players for patient and family use
Cancer Services also provides periodic classes for the community on cancer-related topics. A listing of all community education programs through University Health Care System is available on the Web site.
