What Is A Hospitalist?
A hospitalist is a physician who specializes in caring for patients in the hospital.
Experience. Expertise. Commitment.
We help Your Primary Care Physician To Be More Available To You.
Because hospitalists are in the hospital all day, your doctor can be with you in the office with fewer delays and interruptions. Your primary care doctor will be able to devote more time to keeping you and your family healthy.
When Will I See My Primary Care Physician?
You will be asked to see your primary care physician soon after discharge from the hospital. He or she, like many other physicians, has referred you to our hospitalists because you need more care than can be provided at home or in the office. At the time of discharge your hospitalist physician will update your primary care physician on your care in the hospital, provide you with prescriptions if needed, and send your hospital information to your primary care physician's office.
What If I Do Not Have a Primary Care Physician?
At the time of discharge, the hospitalist will refer you to a primary care physician and provide him or her with your hospital information. As ongoing medical care is necessary to keep you healthy, it is important that you establish a relationship and follow up with a primary care physician.
How Does the Hospitalist Know About Me?
Your hospitalist physician will spend extra time learning about you. At the time of your admission, he or she will speak with your primary care physician who will communicate as much information about your medical history as possible. He or she will review any past medical records that you may have at the hospital and will gather information from you and your family. He or she will then use all this information to help provide you the best possible medical care.
Hospitalists Provide Many Benefits To You and Your Family.
While you are in the hospital, one of our physicians will be available to you and your family as needed. He or she will discuss with you your plan of care and provide honest and considerate answers to your questions. Your hospitalist physician will assist you through a smooth and speedy recovery process by following up on tests and adjusting your treatment regimen throughout the day.
Our hospitalist physicians are on-call around the clock -- 24/7 -- so if you have a medical emergency at any time during your hospitalization, one of our hospitalists will be at your bedside within minutes.
If you need to speak to your hospitalist physician at any time, simply ask your nurse to page him or you may contact our office.
