The University Wound Care Program seeks to improve quality of patients' lives by providing and coordinating wound care resources through the course of treatment while in the hospital and after discharge. Patients who have wounds such as skin breakdown, pressure ulcer, diabetic ulcer, vascular ulcer, burns or wounds that don’t heal or who are at risk for wounds are identified through clinical assessment or physician referral.
The Wound Care Program provides prompt treatment and/or preventive measures, an interdisciplinary resource team to care for wound patients and education for patients, family members and caregivers. These services are provided in the hospital, at Kentwood and Westwood Nursing Homes, and in the home through University Home Health.
