BCBS-Georgia Pathway Customers Can Access University Health Care System

AUGUSTA, GA (March 20, 2017) – Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Georgia customers enrolled in health plans that utilize the Affordable Care Act Pathway (or Pathway X) network in Southeast Georgia now have access to University Health Care System.

Effective March 15, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Georgia and University Health Care System have reached an agreement which allows in-network access to University’s services including hospital, physicians and outpatient services.

“University Health Care System is happy to have reached an agreement with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Georgia to serve ACA Pathway patients as an in-network provider,” said James R. Davis, President and Chief Executive Officer of University Health Care System. “To fulfill our mission to improve the health of those we serve, we work to ensure that all people have access to the high-quality, low-cost care that has led to University being named the region’s preferred provider every year since 1999.”

People with insurance coverage through ACA Pathways can change their Primary Care provider to a University Health Care System provider by calling the number on the back of their member cards.

“Our Pathway members will now have access to quality medical care at University Health Care System, located in Augusta-Richmond County and the surrounding region,” said Jeff Fusile, President of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Georgia. “We are glad we could reach an agreement that enhances care for our members in this part of the state.”
