Cardiac/Pulmonary Endowments

Mothner Family Endowment: This endowment was established to assist with the purchase of capital equipment for the Heart & Vascular Institute.

Tyronze Ingram Heart Transplant Endowment: This endowment was established in honor of University Hospital's first heart transplant patient, and will assist with the priority needs of the Heart & Vascular Institute.

Volunteer Board Endowment: This endowment was established to fund the Community Education Fund of the Heart & Vascular Institute. It provides resources for heart education, equipment, and assistance with unfunded needs of heart patients.

Harry T. Harper, Jr., M.D. Endowment: This endowment was established in honor of Dr. Harry T. Harper Jr., and will support the Harry T. Harper School of Cardiac & Vascular Technology providing scholarships to students interested in careers as cardiovascular technologists.

George Lionel Zumbro, Sr. Memorial Endowment: This endowment was established by G. Lionel Zumbro Jr., M.D., to support the priority needs of the Heart & Vascular Institute.

Cardiac Rehabilitation Endowment: This endowment was established to provide funds for cardiac rehab patients who demonstrate financial need while participating in the Outpatient Phase (Phase III) of the rehabilitation program and provides a stipend for exercise science interns.

Heart & Vascular Institute Endowment: This endowment was established to serve the priority needs of the Institute.

Cardiac Cath Lab Endowment: This endowment was established to support educational needs of the staff and purchase equipment for patient care.

Respiratory Care Endowment: This endowment was established to support education fees and conference expenses in keeping with the mission of the department and University Hospital.

Camp Whispering Wind Endowment: This endowment supports patients with congestive heart failure, including those in Cardio Pulmonary Rehab with help paying for medication, equipment relating to disease management and educational materials.

Vinson Henderson Endowment: This endowment was established to provide continuing education for children and adults with asthma as well as continuing education of the cardiopulmonary staff including support for attending national meetings, paying professional fees and covering fees for advanced certification.

Henry Douglas “Doug” Horne, Jr. Endowment: This endowment was established to benefit Cardiac/Pulmonary Services at University Hospital to include special needs of patients and educational needs of staff at University Hospital.

John W. Kelley, M.D. Cardiovascular Endowment: This endowment was established to promote education and training of students within the Harry T. Harper School of Cardiac and Vascular Technology at University Hospital, to assist employed nurses and technologists and physician extenders employed within the Cath/Interventional Lab as well as noninvasive areas to include support and subsidy and outside speakers, training, etc.

Dr. & Mrs. Paul Cundey, Jr. Endowment: This endowment was established to assist in prevention of Ischemic Heart Disease.

Elaine Clark Smith Heart & Vascular Endowment: This endowment was established to provide for special needs of Heart & Vascular Institute patients, support programs that bring awareness to women’s heart health, and to provide for continuing education and certification needs of Heart & Vascular Institute employees.

William R. Kitchens, M.D. Endowment: This endowment was established to support the special needs of heart and vascular patients and support the strategic initiatives of University Health Care Systems relating to Heart and Vascular services.

Mac Bowman, M.D. Endowment: This endowment was established to honor Dr. Bowman’s passion for prevention of needless deaths from heart attack and stroke in our community and funds student-athlete screenings, community education and screenings to prevent heart attack and stroke and supports patients in cardiac and pulmonary rehab. This endowment also supports continuing medical education for cardiovascular nursing staff, clinical (HVI), preventive and rehab, rehab staff, and cardiovascular imaging staff.
