Enteroclysis

Where do I register?

You may call 706.774.2125 to pre-register if you prefer. Please report to Central Registration in The Outpatient Center at your scheduled check-in time.

Where do I park?

Please park in the Outpatient Parking Lot off the main circle to the front entrance of the hospital. Inform the attendant at the gate when you enter the Outpatient Parking Lot if you need shuttle service. If you need wheelchair assistance, please park in the main hospital parking deck.

What is the test?

An enteroclysis is a special type of X-ray to look at the small bowel (intestines). The radiology technician will insert a small tube down the nose to inject the contrast material which helps visualize the structures. The test is usually completed within one hour.

Test Preparation

A full bowel "prep" to clear the abdomen of any waste material is necessary before this test. Your physician may instruct you on this, or may ask you to obtain a "Prep Kit" from the Radiology Department on the second floor.

Do not eat or drink anything after midnight before your test. Your physician will inform you which of your home medications you should take prior to the test. If you are diabetic, please consult your physician about taking insulin or other medications to control your blood sugar.

Special Considerations
Drink plenty of fluids for 24-48 hours after the tests.
