Receives High Ranking

AUGUSTA, GA, August 9, 2017 – In the latest “Best Hospitals” release from US News & World Report, University Hospital was ranked third in Georgia out of nearly 175 hospitals in the state.

According to US News, it evaluates data on nearly 5,000 hospitals in 16 adult specialties, nine adult procedures and conditions and 10 pediatric specialties. The ratings in procedures and conditions focus on typical Medicare patients. Hospitals that do well in multiple areas of adult care may be ranked in their state and metropolitan area.

In addition to the regional award, University achieved the highest rating possible in seven out of nine procedures or conditions tracked.

These include:

  • Abdominal aortic aneurysm repair
  • Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
  • Colon cancer surgery
  • Heart bypass surgery
  • Heart failure
  • Hip replacement
  • Knee replacement
