W.G. Watson, M.D. Women’s Center Patient Room Renovation Ribbon Cutting
University Hospital is excited to share the completion of our renovation efforts in the W.G. Watson, M.D. Women’s Center as of May 11, 2018. We celebrated with a ribbon cutting ceremony, as well as milk and cookies. We were thrilled to have Mrs. Audrey Watson, the wife of our late namesake, in attendance for our celebration.
A successful renovation generates a sense of achievement, becoming a key motivator in the continuous increase of excellent quality care. The W.G. Watson, M.D. Women’s Center experienced a $2 million renovation, resulting in modifications that provide our patients with an even greater opportunity for comfort ability and well-being.
The renovations included:
- The installation of new showers
- The purchase and placement of new furnishings
- The installation of new flooring
- The development of a refreshment area for expecting fathers and guests (with great thanks to our volunteer board)
Having an overall facelift has given us a refreshing outlook on the future of our women's center. Moving forward, the care provided in the W.G. Watson, M.D. Women’s Center will continue to well-represent Dr. Watson and his dedication to the organization and his patients.
In conclusion, William E. Barfield Jr., M.D. was recognized for the wonderful care he has provided and continues to provide at University Hospital. We are very thankful for all of his hard work and commitment to our facility over the years. The labor and delivery operating room has been named in his honor.
